Launch of the first telephoto zoom for the XF Lens series

The FUJINON XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS features fast aperture of F3.5-4.8 across the entire zoom...

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is proud to announce the launch of the new “FUJINON XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS” lens for the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras.
FUJINON XF lenses feature advanced lens engineering, capable of drawing the maximum performance out of the highly-descriptive "X-Trans CMOS Sensor" in the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras.
The new FUJINON XF55-200mm lens produces sharp images across its entire zoom range, well resolved corner-to-corner. The fast F3.5-4.8 lens facilitates image capture in scenes requiring a fast shutter speed. Its image stabilisation function enables the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower, preventing camera shake even when shooting hand-held in low-light, or at a stopped down aperture. Furthermore, it is built to include two linear motors for high-speed AF of 0.28 seconds, instantaneously focusing on your subject.

Built with advanced optical design to cover the mid-telephoto (84mm*1) to telephoto (305mm*1) range and deliver the large maximum aperture of F3.5-4.8 despite its compact size; offering mobility and high descriptive performance at the same time.

Featuring image stabilisation that allows the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower; detecting a wide range of camera shakes from low to high frequencies to deliver advanced correction

Uses two linear motors for high-speed AF and quiet operation, making the lens suitable for video recording as well

Features two ED lens elements including one Super ED lens element that boasts performance equivalent to that of fluorite lenses; controlling chromatic aberrations, which typically occur in long focal lengths, to produce images that resolve well corner-to-corner across the full zoom range

Applying FUJINON's proprietary "HT-EBC Coating" on the entire lens surface to achieve a highly preventative measure against reflections, and to control flair and ghosting

Offering the minimum working distance of 1.1m across the entire zoom range to enable telephoto close-ups, and the ability to capture a small part of a subject

Featuring a 1/3EV step aperture ring so that users can easily adjust the aperture whilst holding the camera up to their eye

The focus ring and aperture ring are made from metal and have been designed to have a high quality feel, with the benefit of being extra robust

NEW Firmware will speed up the Auto Focus performance of the X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras
At the launch of the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8R LM lens, FUJIFILM will upgrade the firmware for both the X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras. Thanks to a new algorithm, the firmware will be able to harness the full capability of the lens enabling both cameras to search the contrast AF quickly throughout the full range of focal lengths. The focus speed will be as fast as 0.7 sec. even if it searches from infinity to the Minimum Object Distance at the telephoto end.
By upgrading your X-Pro1 or X-E1 with new firmware you will also improve the AF speed with other existing XF lenses. *3
The firmware will be available to download from www.fujifilm.com nearer the launch of the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8R LM lens.

*1 based on CIPA standards
*2 35mm format equivalent
*3 It will be necessary to update the firmware on all XF lenses except the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS. The lens firmware will be available from July 2013.

FUJIFILM is proud to announce the release of the FinePix F900EXR travel zoom camera; this handsome,...

It’s targeted at an audience looking for excellent image quality, long zoom capabilities and advanced features, in a lightweight and slimline body. With a high precision FUJINON 20× optical zoom lens with a minimum focal length of 25mm 3, plus a powerful new EXR-CMOS II sensor with extra fast Phase Detection AF and an EXR Processor II, the F900EXR offers near instantaneous reactions and excellent functionality.

1. Super-fast response times

The F900EXR’s new “Intelligent Hybrid AF system” focuses in as little as 0.05sec. 1 when employing the new Phase Detection AF which uses special new pixels that have been added to the EXR-CMOS II sensor. Its speed ensures that your subject will be captured at the precise moment you want them to be, avoiding missed photo opportunities. The camera automatically switches between Phase Detection AF and Contrast Detection AF depending on the subject and scene, guaranteeing superb ease-of-use and fast, accurate autofocus no matter what the setting or shooting conditions.
The bespoke 16 million pixels ½” EXR-CMOS II back-side illuminated (BSI) sensor has been engineered to ensure that there will be enough light available for Phase Detection AF at larger apertures and in circumstances where the angle of incidence of light is high.
In addition, the EXR Processor II more than doubles the performance of the first-generation EXR Processor. With a super-fast startup time of 1.1sec. 4, an interval between shots of 0.5sec. 4, and burst-mode rates of 11 frames/sec. 4(max. 5 frames), the F900EXR offers fantastic response times that make it a joy to use and ensure you should never have to worry about missing that special shot again.
What’s more, you can take advantage of the superb capabilities of the EXR-CMOS II sensor and EXR Processor II just by selecting FUJIFILM’s EXR AUTO mode. In this mode, the camera has the ability to automatically optimise output by choosing between 108 pre-determined scene permutations and adjusting settings to suit the scene for hassle-free, high-quality results whatever your subject.

2. FUJINON 20× optical zoom lens combines with Intelligent Digital Zoom for up to a 40× zoom

From 25mm 3 (wide) to 500mm 3 (telephoto), the F900EXR offers an impressive zoom range in a very slim-line camera body. With the ability to combine the 20x optical zoom and the intelligent digital zoom to allow magnification up to 40×, the F900EXR will capture crisp images of subjects at an impressive distance.
Featuring advanced CMOS-shift image stabilization which reduces the blurring which often occurs at long zoom ratios from camera shake or subject movement, the F900EXR is built to help you take good quality long zoom shots. With its superior grip for additional hold, you will feel in total control when you’re snapping away on your travels.

3. Wireless Image Transfer makes it easy to transfer photos and movies 5 to smartphones and computers

The F900EXR’s new wireless feature lets you transfer photos and movies 5 from the FinePix F900EXR to smartphones, tablets, and computers.
For first time, via Wi-Fi® 6, FUJIFILM is able to offer a means to back up your photos on your home PC. Just install the free “FUJIFILM PC AutoSave” software onto your PC and select which folder you want the photos to back up to, and then by linking your Wi-Fi Router and the F900EXR camera you will have set up a very simple to use backup for your photos on your home PC.
To connect to smartphones and tablets you will need to download the free dedicated “FUJIFILM Camera Application” to your iPhone, iPad, or Android™ smartphone or tablet device to transfer up to 30 pictures at a time from the FinePix F900EXR. The app also lets you download movies 5, expanding the range of options available for enjoying pictures taken with the camera. Pictures stored on the camera can be viewed and selected for download on large smartphone or tablet screens for a smooth download experience. No wireless LAN access point or complicated ID or password entry is required, and once pictures have been downloaded to the smartphone, it’s a simple task to upload them to social networking sites.
High-quality pictures and movies 5 can be uploaded hassle-free to the smartphone or tablet of anyone who has downloaded the free “FUJIFILM Camera Application”.

4. Record Full HD movies, thanks to the EXR- CMOS II sensor

Shoot video footage in Full HD at a smooth 60 frames per second with improved Phase Detection AF without losing any of the superior colour reproduction qualities offered by the EXR-CMOS II sensor with high bit rate. Movie recording can be started with a single press of the dedicated “Movie recording button”. You can record high-quality sound using the built-in stereo microphone.
Optical zoom and still image photography are available during movie recording. Portraits will always be in focus thanks to the face-tracking autofocus feature, which even tracks subjects that look down or away.
The Intelligent Hybrid AF is active during movie recording for fast, precise focus. The camera also offers a Scene Recognition for movie recording feature that automatically adjusts camera settings for landscapes, close-ups, night landscapes, portraits, backlit portraits, and night portraits for high-quality, hassle-free results with a variety of subjects.

5. The fully-featured camera makes photography a snap

The FinePix F900EXR offers “Advanced Filter” for hassle-free access to innovative forms of artistic expression. You can preview on the LCD before you take your shot.

Toy Camera - Create shaded borders as if you were taking a photo on a toy camera.

Miniature - Add top and bottom blur for a diorama or miniature effect.

Pop Color - Emphasize contrast and colour saturation.

High Key - Enhance brightness and reduce contrast to lighten tonal reproduction.

Low Key (NEW) – Create uniformly dark tones with few areas of emphasized highlights.

Dynamic Tone - Create a fantasy effect by dynamically-modulated tonal reproduction.

Soft Focus (NEW) – Create a look that is evenly soft throughout the whole image.

Partial Color - Retain one selected original color and change the rest of the photo to black and white. Colors can be selected from red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple for dramatic effect.

Further improvements have been made to “Advanced Anti-blur” mode, in which the camera takes four shots in rapid succession at high sensitivity settings and combines them using advanced image processing technology to reduce the effects of blur: it now works effectively with moving subjects for even more beautiful blur- and noise-free shots in low light and at high zoom ratios.
Combine two shots into a “Multiple Exposure” shot for a unique effect. Superimposed over the view through the lens in the monitor, the first shot serves as a guide to composing the second shot, allowing more accurate composition and giving you a better idea of how the picture will turn out for unique, creative works of art.
The “Motion panorama 360” feature makes it a snap to record dynamic, seamless 360° panoramas. And “Film simulation” lets you choose from five different combinations of colour gamut and tone range, just as you used to choose your Fujifilm colour reversal film.

6. Clear, Beautiful Display and Ease of use for various shooting control

Its bright, high-precision, premium 3.0-inch, 920,000-dot LCD monitor offers a Monitor Sunlight mode for enhanced viewing in bright sunlight and a greatly improved viewing angle, particularly diagonal direction, thanks to employing the special film. The viewing angle allows photographs to be taken from higher angles and lets you view pictures during playback from awkward angles without difficulty.
Additionally, frequently-used options can be assigned to the camera’s “E-fn” or extended function button for enhanced ease of use.

FUJIFILM is proud to launch the FinePix F850EXR long zoom compact camera. A new addition to...

FUJIFILM is proud to launch the FinePix F850EXR long zoom compact camera. A new addition to FUJIFILM’s F series travel zoom cameras, its fast response times and excellent specifications will have wide appeal.
In a lightweight, slim-line body, its high precision FUJINON 20× optical zoom lens (25-500mm 1), EXR-CMOS sensor and EXR Processor II ensure that the F850EXR will provide hassle-free photography and superb functionality.

1. Speedy response times

The F850EXR’s focus speeds of 0.21sec. 2 and quick response times are thanks to a newly developed EXR Processor II, ensuring that your subject will be captured at the precise moment you want them to be, avoiding missed photo opportunities. The EXR Processor II, which boasts twice the processing speed of the previous generation EXR Processor has a startup time of 1.1sec. 2, interval between shots of 0.5sec. 2, and burst-mode frame advance rates of 9.0 frames/sec. 2 (max. 5 frames).

2. Excellent Auto Mode for quality photo without “Hassle”

What’s more, you can take advantage of the superb capabilities of the ½-inch, 16 million pixels EXR-CMOS sensor just by selecting FUJIFILM’s EXR AUTO mode. In this mode, the camera has the ability to automatically optimise output by choosing between 108 pre-determined scene permutations and adjusting settings to suit the scene for hassle-free, high-quality results whatever your subject.

3. FUJINON 20× optical zoom lens combines with Intelligent Digital Zoom for up to a 40× zoom

From 25mm 1 (wide) to 500mm 1 (telephoto), the F850EXR offers an impressive zoom range in a very slim-line camera body. With the ability to combine the 20x optical zoom and the Intelligent Digital Zoom to allow magnification up to 40×, the F850EXR will capture crisp images of subjects at an impressive distance.
Featuring advanced CMOS-shift image stabilisation which reduces the blurring which often occurs at long zoom ratios from camera shake or subject movement, the F850EXR is built to help you take good quality long zoom shots. With its superior grip for additional hold, you will feel in total control when you’re snapping away on your travels.

4. Record Full HD movies, thanks to the EXR- CMOS sensor

Shoot video footage in Full HD at a smooth 60 frames/sec. without losing any of the superior colour reproduction qualities offered by the EXR-CMOS sensor.
The camera also offers a movie scene recognition feature that automatically adjusts camera settings for landscapes, close-ups, night landscapes, portraits, backlit portraits, and night portraits for high-quality, hassle-free results with a variety of subjects.

5. The fully-featured camera makes photography a snap

The FinePix F850EXR offers Advanced Filter for hassle-free access to innovative forms of artistic expression.

Low Key (NEW) – Create uniformly dark tones with few areas of emphasized ighlights.

Its bright, high-precision, premium 3.0-inch, 920,000-dot LCD monitor offers a Monitor Sunlight mode for enhanced viewing in bright sunlight. Its wide viewing angle allows photographs to be taken from higher angles and lets you view pictures during playback from awkward angles without difficulty.
Additionally, frequently-used options can be assigned to the camera’s “E-fn” or extended function button for enhanced ease of use.

Fujifilm highlights commitment to wide format digital sector with opening of new ink manufacturing facility

Fujifilm today announces the opening of its brand new digital ink manufacturing facility at its...

Fujifilm today announces the opening of its brand new digital ink manufacturing facility at its award-winning* manufacturing plant in Broadstairs, UK. The company’s investment in this state-of-the-art facility, alongside an upgrade to its impressive R&D department, highlights Fujifilm’s long term commitment to the wide format digital sector and builds on its ethos of providing its customers with industry-leading solutions manufactured to a consistently high standard.
The new digital ink manufacturing facility has been two years in planning and development, and is the result of an investment of over €4 million, with an additional €2.5 million invested to upgrade the R&D department.
The new manufacturing facility has a footprint of 1800m2, and is built to accommodate a projected annual increase of 56% in the production of UV ink at the site, manufactured in a range of batch sizes of up to 4000 litres. This projection reflects the demand for Fujifilm wide format digital inkjet solutions and the success the company has had in helping its customers transition to digital in this growing market segment. The facility has the capacity to manufacture 6000 tonnes of ink per year, which will be produced in a variety of packs from 250 ml RFID tagged pouches and cartridges up to 10 litre packs for high productivity wide format printer platforms.
Colin Boughton, operations director at the Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems Broadstairs site comments, "We have planned everything meticulously over the last few years, recognising that to stay at the forefront of digital ink technology with our range of Uvijet inks, we need to work with state-of-the-art equipment and have the ability to increase production and packing volumes. We were delighted to win the "Best Process Plant" award at last year’s "Best Factory Awards" in the UK, evidence of what we have achieved so far. Our vision is to remain at the forefront of this technology and to re-invest every year in order to maintain that position. For instance, we have worked closely with a specialist company to develop next generation dispersion equipment for our inks, and this will allow us to reduce particle sizes to less than 100nm – true nanotechnology!"
He continues, "We are pleased that the transition from one manufacturing area to another was completely seamless, with absolutely no disruption to our production output at all. In fact, some people didn’t even realise we’d started as the transition coincidentally took place during one of our busiest production months for digital ink. Further investments in equipment will take place during 2013, keeping Fujifilm at the cutting edge of UV digital ink manufacturing and packing technology."
Over 340 employees work at the Fujifilm Broadstairs site and over 80% of these are involved in digital ink R&D and manufacture. It was of utmost importance that the workforce should be included as much as possible in the company’s plans, resulting in over 80 employee ideas being used in the final design of the facility. In addition, a high level of importance has been placed on training for all staff, as Fujifilm is keen to ensure that everyone has a full appreciation of digital technology.
Underpinning this extensive project is Fujifilm’s commitment to the environment. As always, the company works tirelessly to ensure that all products and processes are as environmentally friendly as possible, and it has invested significantly in alternative methods of reducing its environmental footprint at the new manufacturing facility.
'Waste' energy in the form of heat from production processes and compressed air generation via a bespoke new heat exchange system is used to provide 70% of the heating required for the factory. In addition, a new boiler plant has been installed which incorporates compact, modern, high efficiency modulating condensing boilers that use 40% less fossil fuels than conventional heating systems. Combine this with the latest figures from the site which show that only 7% of the waste generated goes to landfill, with 23% going to energy recovery and 70% recycled, this means that effectively 93% is reused in some way, and the company’s ‘green’ ethos is easily apparent.
This work has played its part in Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems being accredited to the Environmental standard ISO14001, in addition to the Quality standard ISO9001. Accreditation to the Health and Safety Standard OHSAS 18001 will be complete by mid 2013.

Cutting edge mindset

In this fast paced environment, changes take place frequently and Fujifilm prides itself on staying at the forefront of any developments, particularly with regard to pigment dispersion equipment and post processing techniques.
This outlook dovetails perfectly with the company’s approach to always provide its own core technologies in both ink and printheads, and partner closely with OEMs such as Inca Digital to develop the best solutions tailored to the market’s needs.

Best Process Plant*

In 2011 Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems won ‘Best Process Plant Award’ at the ‘Best Factory Awards‘, confirmation that Fujifilm’s digital inkjet wide format customers benefit from the best ink on the market. Key to this success was the control that Fujifilm had on its processes and its workforce buy in.
The judges were also particularly impressed with the Right First Time improvement that stands at over 99% in digital ink manufacture; the 5S housekeeping programme throughout the plant, and Visual Management which gives constant feedback to the manufacturing teams who work in a cellular system.
