Launch of the first telephoto zoom for the XF Lens series

The FUJINON XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS features fast aperture of F3.5-4.8 across the entire zoom...

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is proud to announce the launch of the new “FUJINON XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS” lens for the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras.
FUJINON XF lenses feature advanced lens engineering, capable of drawing the maximum performance out of the highly-descriptive "X-Trans CMOS Sensor" in the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras.
The new FUJINON XF55-200mm lens produces sharp images across its entire zoom range, well resolved corner-to-corner. The fast F3.5-4.8 lens facilitates image capture in scenes requiring a fast shutter speed. Its image stabilisation function enables the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower, preventing camera shake even when shooting hand-held in low-light, or at a stopped down aperture. Furthermore, it is built to include two linear motors for high-speed AF of 0.28 seconds, instantaneously focusing on your subject.

Built with advanced optical design to cover the mid-telephoto (84mm*1) to telephoto (305mm*1) range and deliver the large maximum aperture of F3.5-4.8 despite its compact size; offering mobility and high descriptive performance at the same time.

Featuring image stabilisation that allows the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower; detecting a wide range of camera shakes from low to high frequencies to deliver advanced correction

Uses two linear motors for high-speed AF and quiet operation, making the lens suitable for video recording as well

Features two ED lens elements including one Super ED lens element that boasts performance equivalent to that of fluorite lenses; controlling chromatic aberrations, which typically occur in long focal lengths, to produce images that resolve well corner-to-corner across the full zoom range

Applying FUJINON's proprietary "HT-EBC Coating" on the entire lens surface to achieve a highly preventative measure against reflections, and to control flair and ghosting

Offering the minimum working distance of 1.1m across the entire zoom range to enable telephoto close-ups, and the ability to capture a small part of a subject

Featuring a 1/3EV step aperture ring so that users can easily adjust the aperture whilst holding the camera up to their eye

The focus ring and aperture ring are made from metal and have been designed to have a high quality feel, with the benefit of being extra robust

NEW Firmware will speed up the Auto Focus performance of the X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras
At the launch of the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8R LM lens, FUJIFILM will upgrade the firmware for both the X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras. Thanks to a new algorithm, the firmware will be able to harness the full capability of the lens enabling both cameras to search the contrast AF quickly throughout the full range of focal lengths. The focus speed will be as fast as 0.7 sec. even if it searches from infinity to the Minimum Object Distance at the telephoto end.
By upgrading your X-Pro1 or X-E1 with new firmware you will also improve the AF speed with other existing XF lenses. *3
The firmware will be available to download from www.fujifilm.com nearer the launch of the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8R LM lens.

*1 based on CIPA standards
*2 35mm format equivalent
*3 It will be necessary to update the firmware on all XF lenses except the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS. The lens firmware will be available from July 2013.

For first time, via Wi-Fi®*, FUJIFILM is able to offer a simple means to back up your photos to your home PC. Just install the free “FUJIFILM PC AutoSave” software onto your PC and select which folder you want the photos to back up to, and then by linking your Wi-Fi Router and the XP200 camera you will have set up a very simple to use backup for your photos on your home PC. Both incredibly useful and a big timesaver, this new feature has proven very popular.
To connect to smartphones and tablets you will need to download the free dedicated “FUJIFILM Camera Application” to your iPhone, iPad, or Android™ smartphone or tablet device to transfer up to 30 pictures at a time from the FinePix XP200. The app also lets you download movies*5, expanding the range of options available for enjoying pictures taken with the camera. Pictures stored on the camera can be viewed and selected for download on large smartphone or tablet screens for a smooth download experience. No wireless LAN access point or complicated ID or password entry is required, and once pictures have been downloaded to the smartphone, it’s a simple task to upload them to social networking sites.
High-quality pictures and movies*5 can be transferred hassle-free to the smartphone or tablet of anyone who has downloaded the free “FUJIFILM Camera Application”.

3. A high speed shooter
Capture high speed action with the XP200’s 10fps*4 continuous shooting mode at full resolution (max. 9 frames). You can also shoot ultra-high speed continuous shooting at up to 60fps*4 (max. 60 frames*6). With a dedicated “Burst mode” button placed on the back of the camera it’s simple to switch to continuous shooting mode, and ever so easy to capture fast paced action shots.

4. Superior image quality
At the very core of the XP200 is the camera’s 1/2.3-inch 16 million pixel CMOS sensor. With ISO sensitivity up to 6400*7 and CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation, image capture is handled with ease ensuring that sharp, clear pictures are produced, even in challenging low-light conditions. Details in shadow and in bright light can be lost on cameras with conventional sensors, however, the XP200’s CMOS sensor ensures that beautifully balanced pictures are taken.

5. Seeing is believing
The XP200 has a bright and impressive 3.0”, 920K-dot LCD screen with an anti-reflective coating which makes looking at images and data on the back of the screen really easy, even in bright sunlight. The screen features an automatic brightness adjustment feature which can be optimised to monitor brightness to account for ambient lighting, saving battery power without sacrificing clarity.
1. FinePix XP200
2. Conventional digital camera

6. Get closer to the action
The well-designed XP200 features an internal 5x optical FUJINON zoom lens (28 - 140mm*8), which means that you can zoom right up to the action, even underwater. Blur free pictures are achieved through the CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation which corrects the effects of any slight shake of the hand when pressing the shutter. The technology continues to impress with the added application of Intelligent Digital Zoom. The XP200 combines its 5x optical zoom with Intelligent Digital Zoom which results in double the zoom range (10x) whilst offering optimum image processing to counteract the degradation that has traditionally occurred when digital zooms are used.

7. Rugged looks and wide appeal
The XP200 is a well-designed rugged camera with an excellent core specification that will withstand the wear and tear of your adventures. It’s got extra grip in case your hands are wet and is incredibly simple to operate, even if you’re wearing ski gloves.

8. Capture your adventures in Full HD
The XP200 allows you to take action-packed HD videos of all your escapades, perfect to show friends and family on the TV back at home what you’ve been up to. With the fast read-out and high speed processing of the CMOS image sensor and processor, the XP200 can record Full 1080i HD movies at 60fps (with high speed recording available at reduced resolution at frame rates of up to 360fps).
A new and improved Image Stabilisation system is employed when recording videos to ensure crisp results*9. And a one touch “Movie Recording” button on the back of the camera makes it just as easy to shoot videos as it is stills. Recording starts quickly at a press of the button, with just another press to stop recording.
Additional features such as FUJIFILM’s Scene Recognition Auto now also work when recording videos. Plus, advanced in-camera movie editing is available including features such as “movie trimming” to edit out unwanted footage and “movie join” to seamlessly pull together multiple video clips into a single movie.

9. Transform your photographs with special artistic filters
You can really get creative by applying FUJIFILM’s “Advanced Filters” to your photos. Just preview them on the LCD before you take your shot.ɫ
Pop Colour - Emphasises contrast and colour saturation
Toy Camera - Creates shaded borders as if you were taking a photo on a toy camera
Miniature - Adds top and bottom blur for a diorama or miniature effect

10. Creative photography
The XP200 features a number of advanced features allowing greater creative flexibility. High speed multi-frame processing lets you record two shots or more at different exposures and then combine them to achieve High Dynamic Range (HDR) shots with natural contrast that preserves details in the highlights and shadows. Motion Panorama 360 lets you create a 360º panoramic shot just by selecting the mode & pressing the shutter button and spinning round in a circle. This is simple to use and the effect is superb, particularly for landscape shots. Individual shutter 3D lets you create fun images with a 3D effect by combining two shots taken from slightly different angles.

Fujifilm announces commercial availability of Jet Press 540W digital inkjet web press

Fujifilm today announces the commercial availability of its Jet Press 540W digital inkjet web press...

Fujifilm today announces the commercial availability of its Jet Press 540W digital inkjet web press (formerly known as Jet Press W). Launched as a technology showcase at drupa 2012, the press is targeted at high quality, short run digital print such as leaflets and personalised magazines, as well as school textbooks, book printing and newspapers. Available immediately, it has recently been installed in Fujifilm’s Advanced Print Technology Centre in Brussels for European demonstrations.

Fujifilm’s Jet Press 540W features a unique design that enables duplex printing within a single tower. This results in an extremely compact footprint of 6.6m x 2.8m. Supporting both inkjet and non-coated papers of between 64-157 gsm, with a maximum printable width of 540mm, the press offers a top printing speed of 127 m/min and ultra high quality printing of 600 dpi, upgradeable to 1200dpi later in 2013.

Fujifilm’s XMF Workflow system is used to drive the front end of the Jet Press 540W and allows full variable data printing. Already popular amongst commercial printers for its speed and flexibility in handling work across digital and offset print processes, XMF is continuously evolving, and today boasts an improved user interface which increases automation, efficiency and ultimately profitability. It represents one of the most comprehensive and advanced production management systems on the market, addressing many of the issues faced by today’s print service providers.

The Jet Press 540W also utilises the company’s own screening technology, which is based on FM screening and allows for smooth colour tones and sharp text as well as eliminating moire and rosette patterns.

The press will be available as a standalone system, or as a complete solution with the integration of Fujifilm’s own post press equipment (consisting of a sheet cutter and sheet cut + roll). It can also integrate with post press equipment from Hunkeler - predominantly for newspaper use - and Muller Martini equipment for commercial print. This means that it will slot seamlessly into a production environment, producing finished printed products within days of initial installation.

The Jet Press 540W uses Fujifilm’s high performance VIVIDIA ink, developed specifically to facilitate superb image quality. The VIVIDIA ink allows high density images to be printed at high speed, with less ink transfer from sheet to sheet, with high quality reproduction possible even on thin paper.

Fujifilm has used its experience and knowledge to develop both pigment and dye-based inks for use with this press which, when combined with the ultra-compact footprint, maximise the application flexibility and versatility of the machine. The VIVIDIA WP-S pigment ink features a wider colour gamut, suffers from less ‘see through’ on the page and can be used in nearly all graphic applications. The VIVIDIA WD-S dye ink also has a wide colour gamut, but provides better water resistance when used with inkjet papers.

The combination of short-run and variable data capabilities allows the Jet Press 540W to accommodate a wide variety of jobs and opens up new opportunities for a growing number of applications requiring these particular features. It can also help to reduce paper waste when compared with commercial web presses, which makes the press a more sustainable solution.

“We are excited to be launching our digital inkjet web press to the market,” comments Taro Aoki, manager of product development and marketing, Graphic System Division, FUJIFILM Europe GmbH. “We had a lot of interest in the technology showcase at drupa and have high expectations for European beta sites in the near future.”

The FUJIFILM FinePix Long zoom camera with Full HD movie, new S6600 series from FUJIFILM

FUJIFILM is proud to launch three new bridge cameras into its spring 2013 range, the FinePix S6600,...

Highly regarded for their powerful optical zoom, Full HD movie, ease-of-use and compact nature, these bridge cameras are an excellent choice.

1.　Powerful optical zoom and powerful Optical Image Stabilization
The S6600, S6700, and S6800 bridge cameras are all equipped with powerful FUJINON optical zoom lenses, 26×, 28× and 30× respectively. Plus there’s no need to worry about blurry images from camera shake or subject movement, even at high sensitivities of ISO 12800, as they’re all armed with OIS (Sensor Shift). Furthermore for the more artistic among us, great results can be achieved with the clever Super Macro mode down to 2cm.

2. Fast autofocus, quick response and high image quality
These cameras all house 16 megapixels 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensors, which capture excellent quality low noise shots at sensitivities as high as ISO 12800. With autofocus speeds of 0.3 seconds*1, start-up times of 1.0seconds, a 0.5 seconds interval between shots and a continuous shooting speed of 10fps (MAX.10frames, full resolution), you’ll never miss another shot. What’s more, ultra-high–speed shooting of up to 60fps (MAX. 60 frames, image size 1280 × 960) and up to 120 fps (MAX. 60 frames, image size 640 × 480), is also available enabling you to capture the action in slow-motion.

3. Full HD movie recording 1080i/60fps with stereo sound
Movie recording is as easy as taking pictures, with a dedicated Movie button to start recording instantly. The high resolution, 1080i movie capture at 60fps and slow-motion capture at 480fps*2 is superb when played back on HD TV screens and what’s more, still photos can also be taken during video recording thanks to the ingenious, multi-tasking design. With a number of advanced movie-editing features, including “movie trimming” to cut unwanted footage from movies, and “movie join” to join multiple separate clips into a single movie.

4. Advanced Photographic Support
Along with the easy grip surfaces, there is a convenient secondary zoom control on the side of each camera’s lens barrel, which gives you the option of adjusting the zoom with your left hand. For hassle-free photography the user can choose from three zoom speeds, or use the Auto Return Zoom control to reach high-magnification focal points. S8200 series come with a Mode Dial to make changing shooting modes easier.
