The FUJINON XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS features fast aperture of F3.5-4.8 across the entire zoom...

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is proud to announce the launch of the new “FUJINON XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS” lens for the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras.
FUJINON XF lenses feature advanced lens engineering, capable of drawing the maximum performance out of the highly-descriptive "X-Trans CMOS Sensor" in the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras.
The new FUJINON XF55-200mm lens produces sharp images across its entire zoom range, well resolved corner-to-corner. The fast F3.5-4.8 lens facilitates image capture in scenes requiring a fast shutter speed. Its image stabilisation function enables the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower, preventing camera shake even when shooting hand-held in low-light, or at a stopped down aperture. Furthermore, it is built to include two linear motors for high-speed AF of 0.28 seconds, instantaneously focusing on your subject.

Built with advanced optical design to cover the mid-telephoto (84mm*1) to telephoto (305mm*1) range and deliver the large maximum aperture of F3.5-4.8 despite its compact size; offering mobility and high descriptive performance at the same time.

Featuring image stabilisation that allows the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower; detecting a wide range of camera shakes from low to high frequencies to deliver advanced correction

Uses two linear motors for high-speed AF and quiet operation, making the lens suitable for video recording as well

Features two ED lens elements including one Super ED lens element that boasts performance equivalent to that of fluorite lenses; controlling chromatic aberrations, which typically occur in long focal lengths, to produce images that resolve well corner-to-corner across the full zoom range

Applying FUJINON's proprietary "HT-EBC Coating" on the entire lens surface to achieve a highly preventative measure against reflections, and to control flair and ghosting

Offering the minimum working distance of 1.1m across the entire zoom range to enable telephoto close-ups, and the ability to capture a small part of a subject

Featuring a 1/3EV step aperture ring so that users can easily adjust the aperture whilst holding the camera up to their eye

The focus ring and aperture ring are made from metal and have been designed to have a high quality feel, with the benefit of being extra robust

NEW Firmware will speed up the Auto Focus performance of the X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras
At the launch of the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8R LM lens, FUJIFILM will upgrade the firmware for both the X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras. Thanks to a new algorithm, the firmware will be able to harness the full capability of the lens enabling both cameras to search the contrast AF quickly throughout the full range of focal lengths. The focus speed will be as fast as 0.7 sec. even if it searches from infinity to the Minimum Object Distance at the telephoto end.
By upgrading your X-Pro1 or X-E1 with new firmware you will also improve the AF speed with other existing XF lenses. *3
The firmware will be available to download from www.fujifilm.com nearer the launch of the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8R LM lens.

*1 based on CIPA standards
*2 35mm format equivalent
*3 It will be necessary to update the firmware on all XF lenses except the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS. The lens firmware will be available from July 2013.

The XP200 has a bright and impressive 3.0”, 920K-dot LCD screen with an anti-reflective coating which makes looking at images and data on the back of the screen really easy, even in bright sunlight. The screen features an automatic brightness adjustment feature which can be optimised to monitor brightness to account for ambient lighting, saving battery power without sacrificing clarity.
1. FinePix XP200
2. Conventional digital camera

6. Get closer to the action
The well-designed XP200 features an internal 5x optical FUJINON zoom lens (28 - 140mm*8), which means that you can zoom right up to the action, even underwater. Blur free pictures are achieved through the CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation which corrects the effects of any slight shake of the hand when pressing the shutter. The technology continues to impress with the added application of Intelligent Digital Zoom. The XP200 combines its 5x optical zoom with Intelligent Digital Zoom which results in double the zoom range (10x) whilst offering optimum image processing to counteract the degradation that has traditionally occurred when digital zooms are used.

Fujifilm highlights commitment to wide format digital sector with opening of new ink manufacturing facility

Fujifilm today announces the opening of its brand new digital ink manufacturing facility at its...

Fujifilm today announces the opening of its brand new digital ink manufacturing facility at its award-winning* manufacturing plant in Broadstairs, UK. The company’s investment in this state-of-the-art facility, alongside an upgrade to its impressive R&D department, highlights Fujifilm’s long term commitment to the wide format digital sector and builds on its ethos of providing its customers with industry-leading solutions manufactured to a consistently high standard.
The new digital ink manufacturing facility has been two years in planning and development, and is the result of an investment of over €4 million, with an additional €2.5 million invested to upgrade the R&D department.
The new manufacturing facility has a footprint of 1800m2, and is built to accommodate a projected annual increase of 56% in the production of UV ink at the site, manufactured in a range of batch sizes of up to 4000 litres. This projection reflects the demand for Fujifilm wide format digital inkjet solutions and the success the company has had in helping its customers transition to digital in this growing market segment. The facility has the capacity to manufacture 6000 tonnes of ink per year, which will be produced in a variety of packs from 250 ml RFID tagged pouches and cartridges up to 10 litre packs for high productivity wide format printer platforms.
Colin Boughton, operations director at the Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems Broadstairs site comments, "We have planned everything meticulously over the last few years, recognising that to stay at the forefront of digital ink technology with our range of Uvijet inks, we need to work with state-of-the-art equipment and have the ability to increase production and packing volumes. We were delighted to win the "Best Process Plant" award at last year’s "Best Factory Awards" in the UK, evidence of what we have achieved so far. Our vision is to remain at the forefront of this technology and to re-invest every year in order to maintain that position. For instance, we have worked closely with a specialist company to develop next generation dispersion equipment for our inks, and this will allow us to reduce particle sizes to less than 100nm – true nanotechnology!"
He continues, "We are pleased that the transition from one manufacturing area to another was completely seamless, with absolutely no disruption to our production output at all. In fact, some people didn’t even realise we’d started as the transition coincidentally took place during one of our busiest production months for digital ink. Further investments in equipment will take place during 2013, keeping Fujifilm at the cutting edge of UV digital ink manufacturing and packing technology."
Over 340 employees work at the Fujifilm Broadstairs site and over 80% of these are involved in digital ink R&D and manufacture. It was of utmost importance that the workforce should be included as much as possible in the company’s plans, resulting in over 80 employee ideas being used in the final design of the facility. In addition, a high level of importance has been placed on training for all staff, as Fujifilm is keen to ensure that everyone has a full appreciation of digital technology.
Underpinning this extensive project is Fujifilm’s commitment to the environment. As always, the company works tirelessly to ensure that all products and processes are as environmentally friendly as possible, and it has invested significantly in alternative methods of reducing its environmental footprint at the new manufacturing facility.
'Waste' energy in the form of heat from production processes and compressed air generation via a bespoke new heat exchange system is used to provide 70% of the heating required for the factory. In addition, a new boiler plant has been installed which incorporates compact, modern, high efficiency modulating condensing boilers that use 40% less fossil fuels than conventional heating systems. Combine this with the latest figures from the site which show that only 7% of the waste generated goes to landfill, with 23% going to energy recovery and 70% recycled, this means that effectively 93% is reused in some way, and the company’s ‘green’ ethos is easily apparent.
This work has played its part in Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems being accredited to the Environmental standard ISO14001, in addition to the Quality standard ISO9001. Accreditation to the Health and Safety Standard OHSAS 18001 will be complete by mid 2013.

Cutting edge mindset

In this fast paced environment, changes take place frequently and Fujifilm prides itself on staying at the forefront of any developments, particularly with regard to pigment dispersion equipment and post processing techniques.
This outlook dovetails perfectly with the company’s approach to always provide its own core technologies in both ink and printheads, and partner closely with OEMs such as Inca Digital to develop the best solutions tailored to the market’s needs.

Best Process Plant*

In 2011 Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems won ‘Best Process Plant Award’ at the ‘Best Factory Awards‘, confirmation that Fujifilm’s digital inkjet wide format customers benefit from the best ink on the market. Key to this success was the control that Fujifilm had on its processes and its workforce buy in.
The judges were also particularly impressed with the Right First Time improvement that stands at over 99% in digital ink manufacture; the 5S housekeeping programme throughout the plant, and Visual Management which gives constant feedback to the manufacturing teams who work in a cellular system.

Fujifilm introduces Digital X-Ray Imaging System 'FCR DYNAMIX SYSTEM' for non-destructive testing

Achieving spatial resolution, density resolution and SN ratio at industry’s highest level, Fujifilm...

FUJIFILM Corporation has launched ‘FCR DYNAMIX SYSTEM’ (hereinafter ‘DYNAMIX SYSTEM’) as the highest resolution and best image quality digital X-ray imaging system for non-destructive testing. This new ‘FUJIFILM COMPUTED RADIOGRAPHY (FCR)’ is capable of detecting and precisely imaging microstructural defects in materials which are used across a wide range of industries and applications such as aerospace, oil/gas and automotive. ‘FUJIFILM can deliver premium image quality with the industry’s highest level*1 of ‘spatial resolution’, ‘density resolution’ and ‘signal-to-noise ratio’　by using double pitch 25μm reading technology and the company’s advanced proprietary image processing technology’.

Fujifilm’s FCR systems for non-destructive testing generate high resolution images by recording image data on the high-sensitivity radiation sensor called an Imaging Plate (IP). The IP is then processed using IP reader which contains a X-ray image scanning device which reads the IP and then creates a digital image showing the structure of the tested material.

The urgent need for higher resolution digital imaging is driven by the rapid expansion of new materials for critical applications, by more exact monitoring of decay and corrosion for existing materials and infrastructure applications. Demand for this new technology is also driven by the transition to digital imaging from film based NDT techniques, resulting in significantly improved cost of ownership for the more traditional NDT applications fields such as aerospace structures/airfoils, petroleum/chemical/power generation facilities, and automotive parts.

Accompanying this high market demand is the shift toward international welding test specification standards which is resulting in the demand for best available technology across global markets requiring ever increased performance standards for material joining applications and higher material safety levels against corrosion wear degradation.

The new DYNAMIX SYSTEM consists of the IP image scanner ‘DYNAMIX HR2’, the DICONDE*3 compliant image display and measurement software ‘DYNAMIX VU’.*4

The DYNAMIX SYSTEM delivers best-in-class image quality using the FUJIFILM’s high-definition 25μm scanning technology, advanced proprietary image processing technology which exceeds the current inspection industry’s highest level of spatial resolution, density resolution and signal-to-noise ratio. The system’s wide dynamic range provide clear images with no highlight and shadow clipping or uneven resolution regardless of material thickness, allowing users to precisely examine the internal structure of and cast materials and parts with a variable wall thickness.

The DYNAMIX SYSTEM uses FUJIFILM’s novel ‘IP Direct Read’ function, in which the IP is placed on a specially engineered tray and inserted into DYNAMIX HR2*5 just prior to image reading. This new reader accepts the IP from both a cassette and as a direct feed*6 after displacement in a protective envelope . The direct feed mechanism is especially beneficial for testing non-standard IP sizes. IPs as long as 152cm can be readily accepted using the direct feed functionality. This function is particularly suited when using imaging plates for pipes and other rounded surface components inspection. The accompanying software features an ‘Automatic Pipe Wall Thickness Measurement’ tool*7 which automatically measures the external and internal wall surfaces of pipes to calculate the degree wall thinning*2. This allows for easy and accurate wall thickness measurement regardless of operator skill level.

Fujifilm continues to be the imaging technology leader through the application of enabling and proprietary technologies. The DYNAMIX CR system is a generation ahead of the competing systems and technologies offering our customers superior imaging performance and lowest cost of ownership.

*1 According to Fujifilm’s measurement figures, the system meets the highest class specifications for spatial resolution (DD13+) and signal-to-noise ratio (130 or above) according to the evaluation standards set by Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und –prüfung (BAM), a public evaluation institute for instrumentation and testing technologies under Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. As for density resolution, it clears the industry’s highest level in accordance with the industrial standard ‘ASTM E-746-07’, set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International).
・Spatial resolution: Represents how finely an image is resolved, and indicated by the distance of two identifiable points in space.
・Density resolution: Relates to gradation and represents the ability to reproduce fine shades of grey.
・Signal-to-noise ratio: Indicates the amount of noise against image signals. A larger value represents a better image quality.
*2 Gradual wear and corrosion of pipe’s internal and/or outside walls
*3 Standard specifications for sharing image data among parties involved in non-destructive tests
*4 ‘IP’ and ‘cassette’ are also required for use.
*5 IP must be inserted in a semi-darkroom, as recorded image signals attenuate in visible light.
*6 Commercially available rubber cassette, etc., to be prepared by each customer
*7 Optional

The newly-developed 16.3 million pixels APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor and EXR Processor II, which increase resolution by approx. 25% (*2) and reduce noise by more than 30% (*3), have the ability to capture high resolution images comparable to those taken on full-frame sensors. Thanks to the removal of the optical low pass filter and powerful processor, the FUJIFILM X100S will produce a clear image with minimal graininess even at a high ISO setting.
The newly-developed X-Trans CMOS II sensor has built-in Phase Detection pixels for the world’s fastest AF in as little as 0.08 seconds (*1). Additionally, the EXR Processor II offers fast response times with a start-up time of only approx. 0.5 seconds (*4), and a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds. In addition, a shutter time lag is only 0.01 seconds, so you can capture the precise instant you wish to and enjoy a comfortable shooting experience.
Also new to the FUJIFILM X100S is the world’s first (*5) “Digital Split Image” feature, which displays dual images on the left and right to be lined up for manual focusing. This enables accurate focusing especially when working with an open aperture or macro shooting. And a handy Focus Peak Highlight function, which highlights high contrast areas of your subject for smoother and more precise fine tuning of focusing.
Depending on the subject and scene, users can switch between two viewfinder views: optical or electronic. The Optical Viewfinder (OVF) is useful when users want to see their subject in the same bright clarity that they see with the naked eye, or when time lag is an issue. The Electronic viewfinder (EVF) is useful to visually check focus, exposure, white balance and depth of field while users compose the shot.

Main Features
(1) FUJIFILM X100S - Sensor performance comparable to full-frame output
The X100S features FUJIFILM’s newly-developed 16.3 million pixels APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor with a unique, highly randomised, color filter arrangement. The benefit of the new array is the elimination of the need for an optical low-pass filter; these are used in conventional sensors to reduce false color and moiré effects but they also reduce image resolution. The removal of the optical low-pass filter allows the X-Trans CMOS II sensor to maximise the light it receives directly, enabling users to capture much finer detail and optimise resolution levels as being proven by the X-Pro1 and the X-E1..
The camera uses Lens Modulation Optimizer to reduce optical effects such as lens diffraction, which occurs when light passes through a lens. Even when stopped down to F16, the X100S retains sharpness and texture in the smallest details, demonstrating the extent of the sensor and lens combination’s capabilities, perfectly.
The excellent sensitivity of the X-Trans CMOS II sensor is coupled with the new EXR Processor II’s advanced signal processing capacity which can reduce noise by more than 30% (*2) compared to its predecessor. Even when shooting in low-light, at a high ISO setting, the FUJIFILM X100S will produce crisp images with minimal grain.

(2) The World’s fastest AF and High-speed Processing
With built-in Phase Detection, the X100S offers the world’s fastest AF speed of just 0.08 seconds(*1). The Intelligent Hybrid AF can switch to Contrast AF, dependent on the demands of subject or scene, to ensure that the camera always auto-focuses quickly and with precision.
The EXR Processor II delivers processing speeds twice that of the previous generation processor (*6). The fast responses result in an impressive start-up time of only approx. 0.5 seconds (*4),and a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds. In addition the X100S delivers a burst shooting rate of up to 6 frames per second (max. 29 frames) at the full resolution of 16.3 million pixels.
Also, a shutter time lag is only 0.01 seconds, so you can capture the precise instant you wish to and enjoy a comfortable shooting experience.

(3) Enhanced manual focus performance with the world’s first (*5) ‘Digital Split Image’ display
Making use of the in-built phase detection pixels for AF action, the X100S is the world’s first (*5) camera to offer a “Digital Split Image” feature, which displays dual images on the left and right to be lined up for manual focusing. This enables accurate focusing especially when working with an open aperture or macro shooting.
In addition, the X100S offers a handy Focus Peak Highlight function, which highlights high contrast areas of your subject. It provides the photographer with a guide, even in situations where it is difficult to tell focusing accuracy, allowing users to enjoy manual focusing comfortably however challenging the conditions.

(4) Hybrid Viewfinder for easy image composition
Offering users freedom when composing photos and adaptability for a range of shooting conditions, the X100S’s Hybrid Viewfinder combines both an Optical and an Electronic Viewfinder.
The electronic viewfinder uses a 100% coverage, extra high resolution, 2,360K-dot High Definition LCD panel. It shows depth-of-field during macro shooting, as well as white balance settings, allowing users to accurately compose their shot while continuously looking through the viewfinder.
The premium quality optical viewfinder offers an easy-to-see magnification of 0.5 at a 23mm focal length and a horizontal apparent field of view of 26 degrees. The all-glass construction uses high-refractive index glass to minimise chromatic aberrations and distortion.
While in the optical viewfinder mode, users can make adjustments to shutter speed, aperture, ISO and other settings without having to take their eye off the viewfinder. The shooting frame (Bright Frame) and text brightness automatically adjust according to the ambient light available to ensure that the information on the display is easy to see at all times.
The system features an OVF POWER SAVE MODE, which activates the power-saving function in the optical viewfinder mode to double the maximum number of images per full charge from 300 (*7) in normal operation.
With FUJINON’s proprietary coating, the viewfinder cleverly resists fingerprints and can easily be wiped clean, so that users can enjoy the optical viewfinder’s clear display without compromise.

(5) FUJINON 23mm F2 lens offering premium image quality in a compact body
Specifically designed for this model, the FUJINON 23mm F2 Single Focal Length Lens has a fixed angle of incidence of light into the lens which facilitates optimum optical design. Taking full advantage of this, the X100S demonstrates advanced levels of image clarity, not only in the center of the image, but also through to the edges of the photo.
The versatile focal length of 35mm (*8) delivers an angle of view ideal for a diverse range of subjects, scenes and whatever captures the photographer's eye.
The lens consists of 8 elements in 6 groups, and includes a high-performance double-sided aspherical element and highly-refractive converging glass elements, which deliver a high level of detailed performance with minimal aberration, excellent sharpness and beautiful color reproduction. Moreover, FUJINON's proprietary HT-EBC coating is applied to effectively control image flares and ghosting.
Other benefits of this lens are the beautiful, soft, round-shaped Bokeh that is produced from the 9 blade lens diaphragm. In addition the lens allows you to get as close as 10cm from your subject in macro mode for stunning close-up shots. And its in-built 3-stop ND filter enables blurring of the background in portraits, or applies a gorgeous creamy look to flowing water even in a bright setting.

(6) Elegant design and sophisticated functionality
The front of the X100S proudly bares the letter “S” as confirmation of its extensive evolution from the FUJIFILM X100. Down to the tiniest detail, the premium build and feel of the X100 is continued in the X100S. FUJIFILM’s top quality Japanese engineering is evident from the high precision components used and the perfectly optimised body.
The X100S’s top and base parts are made of magnesium alloy to achieve a lightweight, resilient, yet delicate design. A specially-formulated coating is applied to give its surface a steel look for an added premium feel. All the dials and rings have been milled from solid metal, with attention paid to the finer details such as finger grips and enhanced operability. The exterior is finished with synthetic leather, which is durable and resilient to the environment yet reproduces the texture of real leather, while still offering the practical benefits of additional grip and comfort.
The layout of the dials and rings allows users to operate the aperture ring on the lens with their left hand and the shutter speed dial and exposure compensation dial on the top panel with their right hand, meaning all the settings can be adjusted comfortably without having to take your eye off the viewfinder. And to make you feel even more at home, you can even customise your shutter sound by choosing between the four different sounds available: Lens Shutter, Focal Plane Shutter, Mirror Up and Silent Shutter.

FUJIFILM is proud to announce the launch of the new FUJIFILM X20 premium compact camera

Following in the footsteps of the highly acclaimed X10, the FUJIFILM X20 inherits its high-precision lens and refined design, while featuring substantially improved performance. With an X-Trans CMOS II sensor, EXR Processor II and newly-developed Advanced Optical Viewfinder, the X20 is packed full of FUJIFILM’s latest technology. The X20 is available in both black and two-tone black and silver.

The X20’s bright optical viewfinder features a newly-developed Digital Trans Panel. This displays the shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focusing area and other shooting information perfectly clearly, even in low-light conditions. What’s more, the X20’s Advanced Optical Viewfinder synchs with the zoom lens, so that users can accurately compose shots using the viewfinder even when the focal length is constantly changing.

The newly-developed 12 million pixels 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor and EXR Processor II, which increase resolution by approx. 20% (*1) and reduce noise by more than 30% (*2), have the ability to capture high resolution images. Thanks to the removal of the optical low pass filter and powerful processor, the FUJIFILM X20 will produce clear images with minimal graininess even at high ISO settings.
The newly-developed X-Trans CMOS II sensor has built-in Phase Detection pixels for high-speed AF in as little as 0.06 seconds (*3). Additionally, the EXR Processor II offers fast response with a start-up time of only approx. 0.5 seconds (*4), a shutter time lag of　approx. 0.01 seconds and a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds providing advanced flexibility.

Main Features
(1) Advanced Optical Viewfinder with real time shooting data for improved usability and a bright view
Despite its compact size, the FUJIFILM X20 sports a bright and clear optical viewfinder with a horizontal apparent field of view of 20 degrees and coverage of 85%. It is synched to the zoom lens and comes with an eye sensor for enhanced usability. The X20’s viewfinder also has a newly-developed Digital Trans Panel, which is less than 1mm in depth and highly transparent. It presents the shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focusing area and other shooting information so that users can continue shooting comfortably without having to take their eye off the action. The Digital Trans Panel automatically switches the color of information in the shooting frame according to the scene and shooting conditions. Normally displayed in black, shooting information is automatically displayed by green LEDs for enhanced visibility in especially dark scenes. And when an error occurs, the displayed information changes to red　to aid users shooting decisions.

(2) Premium image quality with edge to edge clarity and minimal noise
The X20 features the newly-developed 12 million pixels 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor. The highly random nature of FUJIFILM's unique color filter array eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, while maintaining high resolution images with edge to edge clarity. Optical low-pass filters have traditionally been used in conventional sensors to reduce false color and moiré effects, however this also means sacrificing image quality.
The camera uses Lens Modulation Optimizer to reduce optical effects such as lens diffraction, which occurs when light passes through a lens. Even at an aperture of F8, the X20 retains sharpness and texture in the fine details, drawing out the full potential of the lens.
The sensor's excellent sensitivity is coupled with the processor's advanced signal processing capacity to reduce noise by more than 30% (*2) compared to its predecessor. Even shooting in low-light (e.g. indoors or at night) at a high ISO setting, the X20 will produce a clear image with minimal graininess.

(3) High-speed features and AF in as little as 0.06 seconds (*3)
The newly-developed X-Trans CMOSII sensor has built-in Phase Detection pixels for high-speed AF in as little as 0.06 seconds (*3). Furthermore, its BSI (Back-Side Illuminated) sensor structure means the Phase Detection pixels can gather sufficient light, whatever the angle of incidence, at a large aperture, to deliver high-precision AF. The Intelligent Hybrid AF automatically switches to Contrast AF when the subject or scene demands it to ensure that the camera always auto-focuses at the highest speed and precision levels possible.
A Focus Peak Highlight feature helps photographers by highlighting high contrast areas of your subject. It provides a guide for focusing in situations where it’s difficult to tell whether the subject is correctly focused; allowing users to manually focus while viewing on the LCD monitor.
The EXR Processor II delivers performance twice that of the previous generation (*5). The X20 offers fast response times with a start-up time of only approx. 0.5 seconds (*4), a shutter time lag of 0.01 seconds and a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds providing advanced flexibility. The X20 also delivers an impressive burst rate of 12 frames per second (max. 11 frames) at the full 12 million pixels resolution.

(4) High precision F2.0-2.8 4x manual barrel zoom lens
Incredible attention to detail has been paid when designing this high precision lens. It is made up of 11 glass elements in 9 groups, including 3 aspherical lens elements and 2 ED lens elements. The result is an ultra bright lens with a wide-angle maximum aperture of 2.0 and telephoto maximum aperture of 2.8. FUJINON's proprietary HT-EBC coating is applied to the lens in order to effectively control flare and ghosting from appearing on images.
The optical 4x manual zoom lens allows users to determine precise composition quickly and instinctively, and the use of metal for the lens barrel and its internal structures provides a really smooth zooming action. In Super Macro mode you can get as close as 1cm from your subject, for stunning close-up shots.
The X20’s unique image stabilization mechanism shifts 5 lens elements compensating for camera shake by up to 4 stops, it also effectively prevents motion blur while stopping vignetting and loss of image resolution that usually occurs during camera shake compensation.
Additionally, the X20’s lens incorporates 7 diaphragm blades which enable you to create a beautiful soft ‘bokeh’ effect to make your subject stand out off the background perfectly.

(5) Artistic photography
This exciting new camera features FUJIFILM's proprietary Film Simulation modes. Users can choose from ten different modes which simulate the effects of traditional Fujifilm films. Including color reversal film effects (Velvia / PROVIA / ASTIA), professional color negative film (PRO Neg.Std / PRO Neg.Hi), monochrome filters (MONOCHROME, Ye filter, R filter and G filter) and SEPIA.

Also available on the X20 are the Advanced Filter functions; users can choose from 8 different artistic effects:
Pop Color - Emphasizes contrast and color saturation.
Toy Camera - Create shaded borders as if you were taking a photo on a toy camera.
Miniature - Adds top and bottom blur for a diorama or miniature effect.
Dynamic Tone - Create a fantasy effect by dynamically-modulated tonal reproduction.
Partial Color – Retain one selected original color and change the rest of the photo to black and white. Colors can be selected from red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple for dramatic effect
High Key - Enhance brightness and reduce contrast to lighten tonal reproduction.
Low Key – Create uniformly dark tones with few areas of emphasized highlights.
Soft Focus – Blurs the focus of the image edges to create a softer effect
A separate Multiple Exposure function offers users the chance to combine two separate subjects into one photo, perfect for adding people into photos that they had missed.
(6) Full HD Movie Shooting
The X20’s Full HD Movie (1920 x 1080) can shoot at 60fps for very smooth movie capture. Shooting at the high bit-rate of 36Mbps results in reduced noise and enhanced image quality that reveals every detail from individual leaves in the trees to subtle changes in facial expression.
Many of the features available when shooting stills are also available while movie recording. You can take advantage of a number of the Film Simulation modes and exploit the brightness of the lens to shoot movies with a dreamy ‘bokeh’ effect. The NEW Movie Scene Recognition feature can automatically recognize six types of scene and optimise the settings for beautiful results, under a variety of shooting conditions. What’s more the Intelligent Hybrid AF feature is activated during movie recording and an optional Stereo Microphone can be attached to capture sound perfectly.

(7) Elegant design and sophisticated operating system
Manufactured in Japan from strong, yet lightweight, die-cast magnesium alloy, the X20’s upper control deck and camera base are superbly designed and add a real sense of style and elegance to the camera. The mode dial and zoom ring have been ergonomically placed and precision-milled from solid aluminium; the exterior is finished with synthetic leather, which is durable and resilient. The two-tone version of the X20 has a specially-formulated silver finish which is applied with a coating that creates the premium feel of thick steel.
Composing and viewing images via the LCD is a pleasure thanks to the X20’s high-contrast, 460K-dot, 2.8-inch Premium screen, with a wide viewing-angle and an enhanced GUI menu system. The X20 also features a ‘Q’ button which can call up frequently-used menu items such as ISO settings and a ‘Fn’ (Function) button which allows users to assign features frequently used while shooting.
The camera’s aspect ratio can be selected from 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and 1:1 (square) to accommodate a wide range of photographic styles. The camera also features an ADVANCED SR AUTO mode, which detects not only the main subject but also whether it is moving or stationary to automatically optimise the focus, exposure, ISO and other settings.
