Five Castles, one of Suffolk's leading offset printers, has chosen Fujifilm's Brillia HD PRO-T plate to enable processless plate production.
A long standing user of Fujifilm plates supplied by Mayday Graphic Products, Five Castles tested another processless plate first, but turned to Fujifilm when it fell short of expectations.
"Before we decided to go processless we used Fujifilm's Brillia HD LH-PJE plate which was brilliant," says James Gorniak, studio manager at Five Castles. "When we decided to go down the processless route, we went with a different manufacturer's product but were disappointed with the reliability of the plate and the level of technical support and customer service we received. We asked Fujifilm to demonstrate its PRO-T plate and we were thrilled with the exceptional quality it produced and the service we received from the Fujifilm team."
Five Castles - which is based in Ipswich and employs over 20 members of staff - provides print for companies ranging from national art galleries to local businesses requiring general commercial print. It now enjoys the benefits PRO-T brings, including ultra-fast platemaking, and the fact that there is no processor or finishing unit required means that Five Castles now has none of the associated chemicals or waste to dispose of.
"The PRO-T plate has proved to be technically great and very reliable," continues James. "It has a longer life than the other plate we tested and is easier to visually check for errors after the imaging process has taken place. This is a big deal for us because we can easily check the plates are okay, and for us that's priceless.
"Fujifilm has been absolutely amazing throughout the switchover, which was very quick and painless. The team has proved to be very supportive with everything we've done and we couldn't have asked for anything more."
