FUJIFILM Corporation today announces the availability of its DPR-1 3D printer which produces high-quality and true-to-life 3D prints captured by Fujifilm’s 3D digital cameras. This new 3D printer is simple to set-up and only takes up a very small footprint making it ideal for on-location 3D photography at tourist spots, theme parks, events, and other locations that offer 3D photo printing services on-site.
The arrival of Fujifilm’s 3D printer will bring the enjoyment of 3D images to a much wider audience. Fujifilm has pioneered 3D technology in the photographic industry since 2009 when it launched the world’s first 3D digital camera, the FinePix REAL 3D W1. Now for autumn 2010, Fujifilm proudly announces the launch of a second 3D digital camera, the FinePix REAL 3D W3 which is available this month.
The newly available DPR-1 printer employs a thermal sublimation printing method to transfer images directly onto lenticular sheets to create a 3D effect. Prints will be available in four different sizes from 4 × 6 inches (10.2 × 15.2 cm) to 6 × 9 inches (15.2 × 22.9 cm).
A PC is required to run the bespoke printer software that runs on Windows XP and Windows 7, and enables the generation of 3D print data from 3D photos taken on FinePix REAL 3D cameras, and the creation of 3D composite prints using 3D templates, and the control of print orders.
Fujifilm DPR-1 printers are already in-situ in some theme parks across the world and have received excellent reviews.
