Ultragraph, an FSC-certified, cutting-edge print supplier specialising in direct mail, marketing collateral, packaging, magazine and book printing, has switched to Fujifilm’s Brillia HD PRO-T2 processless thermal plates and PRESSMAX Blue 30.40 AF to help towards establishing a greener offset department.
‘We have been aware of the quality of Fujifilm products for a long time, and so when they suggested we trial the PRO-T plates and PRESSMAX Blue 30.40 AF we decided to give them a go,' explains Nick Jones, managing director of Ultragraph. ‘It has long been an ambition of ours to use processless plates, due to both the environmental impact of using developer fluids and the cost of waste removal, and we loved the fact that the PRO-T plates combined these environmental benefits with fantastic quality and ease of use.'
Since switching to PRO-T plates after the successful trial, Ultragraph has seen its waste levels decrease by around 400 litres. Not only is this great in terms of generating less waste but it means that the company no longer has to fund the disposal of this waste, which can cost up to 40 pence per litre.
‘As well as the savings we have made, the quality of the technical support from Fujifilm has been absolutely fantastic and matches the quality of its products; we've never experienced support to this level,' continues Nick. ‘Fujifilm stayed with us for three days to make sure the adjustments and calibration were all spot on when we switched, and for six weeks after the installation someone from Fujifilm would come and check all was running correctly every week. We always knew Fujifilm was an excellent supplier, and this has just confirmed it. We are very, very happy!'
Brillia HD PRO-T2 has the same specifications as its predecessor, PRO-T, but the new ‘second generation' coating brings with it improvements to its on-press performance and imaging latitude. These include better on-press performance across a wider range of press conditions, faster start-up with fewer sheets required to run-up to copy, a harder wearing coating for easier handling and wider imaging tolerances to improve compatibility with the very latest platesetters.
PRESSMAX founts are available for heatset, sheet-fed and mini-web presses, in both reduced and alcohol-free versions. They support a variety of dampening systems and work with conventional, UV/hybrid or metal inks.
