no.w.here, the UK’s premiere artist run lab is to present a
practical, hands on workshop for emerging artists filmmakers,
cinematographers, and experienced practitioners interested in exploring
the range of image capture formats currently available including practical 
shooting exercises both standard and super 16mm.



The workshop will explore:



  • Theoretical, contextual, practical and technical elements of cinematography.

  • Address the challenges facing artists and filmmakers using this variety
of formats.


  • Focus on the strengths and weaknesses of each format helping artists and
film makers make decisions around which to shoot on, and the advantages
and disadvantages of each.



The workshop will take place at no.w.here and the BFI, and is sponsored by
Fujifilm Motion Picture, Ilab, ICE camera hire, and the BFI.



14th September at the BFI Stephen Street Studio 7 - 9pm
17th and 18th September at no.w.here 10.30am - 5.30pm
30th September 7 - 9pm at the Stephen Street Studio BFI: Final screening
of all work made.



The person running the workshops will be Tim Sidell-Rodriguez, a cinematographer working in artists film, drama,
commercial and music video who continues his own practice as an
experimental filmmaker.



Tim has been the cinematographer of multiple
artist productions including Bethan Huws, Runa Islam, Shezad Dawood, Emily
Wardill, Karen Mirza & Ruth Beale, Doug Fishbone, Andy Holden, David Ryan
and Isabel Rocamora. Tim’s first feature film as Director of Photography
achieved international distribution and he is shooting his second feature
during the summer of 2011. Tim is also a part-time senior lecturer at the
Cambridge School of Art, working with BA Film & Television Production,
 Photography and Fine Art undergraduate students.
