To meet the ever increasing demand for Fujifilm products and the Company's services it became necessary to invest in new premises which to-day house a High-Tech, professional laboratory, modern offices, large stores, an attractive showroom and a car park.
A photographic retail outlet named "The Royal Studio" opened its doors to the public in the year 1913, run by John Ciancio who by profession was a renowned photographer and by nature a great artist. This Photo Studio was situated in Old Theatre Street, in the heart of the city Valletta.
In the early sixties, John's son, Albert, started operating an Import Agency which initiated a business relationship with Fuji Film Co.Ltd. of Japan. In the Mid-seventies it became apparent that the distribution of Fujifilm products was always on the increase and therefore required a professional management and operation consequently "The Royal Studio (1913) Co.Ltd" was formed.
During this period Mario Ciancio, Albert's son and brother-in-law Daniel DeBono took over the running of the Company, occupying the posts of Managing Director and Director, respectively, while Albert was elected Chairman. The Company's technical side is administered by Mario, while Marketing, Administration and finance are the responsibility of Daniel.
The surname "Ciancio" became so synonymous with local photography that in 1994 it was a factor which influenced the Directors to change the Company's name to "Ciancio (1913) Co.Ltd".
