Stand 11100, Hall 11, IFRA Expo, 27-30th October 2008, Amsterdam RAI: FUJIFILM Corporation, a leading supplier of total solutions for the Graphic Arts industry, today announces its presence at IFRA Expo 2008, in Hall 11 stand 11100, 27th – 30th October, Amsterdam RAI. Building on its expertise in plate, pressroom and workflow technologies, FUJIFILM will be showcasing a wide range of solutions for the Newspaper industry, all designed to help improve production performance and operator safety, while minimizing the impact on the environment. The solutions being showcased are detailed below:
i) Launch of chemistry-free FUJIFILM Digital Violet Plate Brillia PRO-VN
This year’s show will see the launch of the FUJIFILM Digital Violet Plate Brillia PRO- VN, a chemistry-free violet CTP plate specifically developed for the demands of newspaper production. The Brillia PRO-VN newspaper plate is based on a “high sensitivity polymerisation” technology which enables newspaper printers to achieve the same levels of productivity as with conventional processed violet CTP plates, bringing the benefits of chemistry-free plate production to newspaper applications for the first time. During the show, Brillia PRO-VN plates will be imaged on an FFEI Alinte News930 and Krause LS-JET.
ii) Preview of a new range of safer, more environmentally-friendly pressroom fount solutions
FUJIFILM will be broadening its leading range of pressroom chemistry with the introduction of a range of founts designed specifically for newspaper applications, which are more environmentally-friendly and much safer for pressroom operators. Thanks to a global commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, a continued investment in R&D, and a very close co-operation with the leading newspaper press, ink and paper manufacturers, FUJIFILM has developed a safer range of fount solutions which are safety-label free and “non-irritant”. These new fount solutions will be more environmentally-friendly and much more user-friendly, contributing to a healthier, safer working environment for printers.
iii) Demonstration of the latest version of FUJIFILM’s XMF C-Fit image enhancement software.
The latest version of FUJIFILM’s XMF C-Fit image optimisation software will also be on show on the FUJIFILM stand at IFRA. This software, part of the XMF workflow product range, allows newspaper publishers to improve the quality and service to existing customers as well as provide a unique service to attract new business. XMF C-Fit helps improve the quality and efficiency of image optimization in busy newspaper publishing environments, resulting in much more consistent image reproduction.
XMF C-Fit uses FUJIFILM’s Image Intelligence™ technology to automate the process of analysing and improving RGB images that arrive from various sources. By using a number of FUJIFILM image processing algorithms (including Face Recognition and Skintone Smoothing, Light Source Recognition, Exposure and White Balance Adjustment, and Sharpness Enhancement) an RGB Digital Master is created. XMF C-Fit’s colour Appearance Matching technology maps the colour gamut of the RGB Digital Master to the maximum gamut potential of the profiled target device. It also allows users to convert RGB files to CMYK without changing or losing the feel of RGB images to ensure the best possible colour conversion from original to printed image, all within a Hot Folder based workflow with drag and drop operation. XMF C- Fit also has a Pre Set-Up function to provide a pre-simulation and check facility for further reassurance prior to any modifcations being made. New for IFRA 2008 will be XMF C-Fit’s ability to optimise the RGB images within a PDF. The result is a software utility that is optimised for highly automated image enhancement, conversion and optimization, improving the efficiency and quality of any production facility managing multiple images. As well as showing the Krause LS-JET and FFEI Alinte News930 CTP engines imaging FUJIFILM plates, FUJIFILM will be demonstrating a Xerox colour continuous feed digital press providing a short-run digital solution for newspaper production.
