East Surrey Hospital Find a Trusted Partner to Deliver on DR Transition

Visionary Suite room at East Surrey Hospital

Serving southwest Surrey and northeast Sussex, including Gatwick airport and the M25 and M23 motorways, East Surrey Hospital is a regional trauma unit and provides nearly 700 beds for its local catchment areas.  Until recently Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SaSH) had no DR facilities, but the project team had a clear idea of what they needed and how the transition should be delivered.
“We entered the DR transition project with less knowledge and experience than many other organisations” said Diane Mcfeeters, Operations Manager at East Surrey Hospital.  “We did however have a clear vision of what the outcomes would look like - we just needed to find a trusted partner to work with.  We have now successfully concluded the project, and I am confident to supply positive endorsements about the Fujifilm products and service we experienced.”

“Our specification was to replace a 20 year old x-ray room with a product that was robust, provided superior image quality, delivered low dose and was easy to use.  We also needed a room that would handle a large amount of trolley work – 24 hrs a day - and not deteriorate in condition or have down time.  The Fujifilm equipment has delivered on all our requirements.”

“We had initially been impressed by the demonstration of Fujifilm’s slim line, light weight D-EVO II detector that was introduced to the SaSH project team. This was superior to other detectors we had seen. We also gained more confidence from a positive site visit to Manchester Hospital.”

“The Fujifilm Visionary Suite was installed in one of our 24 hour emergency department rooms, and three Fujifilm Retrofit units were installed alongside existing equipment in our plain film rooms over a five month period.  Since then we also purchased two Fujifilm FDR Go PLUS mobile units and an FDR nano mobile.”

“The project to install a Visionary Suite room and three Retrofit systems was straightforward, logical and well co-ordinated. There were no technical issues or radiation protection concerns and the project was delivered on time.  The planning team were very patient when we made numerous changes to the original design to ensure efficient workflow and reduce the distances radiographers walked.  The turnkey install was also finished to a very high standard.”

“Two and a half years on from our first DR installation we continue to feel very well supported by Fujifilm, particularly in Applications who make return visits on request to ensure staff are confident to use the systems.  Any issues have been resolved quickly and parts arrive in a timely way and have always been what is expected - which cannot be said for all manufacturers.”

“Applications training is delivered at the point of install to a very high standard and has been repeated several times when we had large intakes of new staff.  Maintenance visits are organised to accommodate our service – not at peak times - and have not been cancelled at short notice, again this cannot be said for all manufacturers.”

“Uptime has been excellent – exceeding the Trust’s expectations. Any minor technical issues have been dealt with promptly, resolved in general at the first engineer visit and taking advantage of the 24/7 service line to log faults as they arise.”

Allan Elborn, General Manager of Fujifilm Medical Systems UK, said

“Our focus on customer experience and system reliability means that we are able to deliver large, complex projects on time and with high levels of customer support.  We have one of the largest teams of DR Applications Specialists in the UK, who are integral to ensuring operators and clinicians have all the support they need.  In addition, our commitment to reliability means our systems and engineers deliver exceptional uptime statistics.”
