Fujifilm is a pioneer in diagnostic imaging and information systems for healthcare, with a range of constantly evolving, clinically proven, products and technologies designed to assist medical professionals perform efficiently and effectively. The company has recently installed a state-of-the-art FDR D-EVO G35i Flat Panel Detector at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI).
MRI is a large teaching hospital for Manchester University’s Medical School, and is a specialist regional centre for kidney and pancreas transplants, haematology and sickle cell disease. Their Heart Centre is a major provider of cardiac services in the region, specialising in cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology.
Commenting on the recent installation, Jon Kitching, Principal Radiographer for the Emergency & Outpatient Departments at MRI, said: “The Fujifilm D-EVO system makes it possible to use our existing CR rooms as DR rooms. This was important for us as, in common with many other hospitals, we have found that installing a new DR room can be a long and expensive process.”
Mr Kitching continued: “The Fujifilm D-EVO system gives us all the benefits of DR such as lower doses and better image quality, but at a fraction of the cost of a new DR room. We have found that using the Fujifilm system allows us to work quickly, with increased patient throughput. Also, we have a large number of staff, so we needed a system that was easy to use and train staff on – and the Fujifilm system certainly meets this requirement.”
