North Bristol Trust (NBT) recently completed the latest upgrade of Fujifilm’s Synapse PACS. Following installation in 2014, the Trust has enjoyed the annual upgrades which Fujifilm provides to customers as an integral part of their service agreement. Upgrades are completed with virtually zero down-time during weekends to ensure the least disruption to daily clinics and patient care.
Sue Miller, PACS Manager at NBT, comments “The Fujifilm Synapse upgrades are a great asset to our PACS operations. They are completed with no disruption because of the preparation and planning undertaken by Fujifilm and the Trust to ensure a smooth upgrade, and the Fujifilm staff are always friendly and efficient. The advantages of a constantly improving PACS are enjoyed by the whole team, and in fact this last one went so smoothly we didn’t even notice the transition!”
Synapse PACS upgrades represent fine tuning to an exceptional product. Launched in 1999 as the first truly web-based PACS in the world, Fujifilm has relentlessly improved and innovated Synapse PACS, and this superior product now has over 5,200 installations worldwide and the global #1 ranking for market share. Recent upgrades enhanced both front end applications and backend solutions, improving user functionality and server performance. Sue Miller is already looking forward to next year’s upgrade “Synapse 5 will have a zero footprint viewer with even faster image display speed. It will also deliver new core functionality to facilitate our image sharing engagement across the region. It’s exciting to work with innovative new technology provided by a trusted partner, which is what Fujifilm delivers.”
At NBT the combination of the Synapse PACS native XDS consumer alongside an XDS registry and XDS-based VNA provides a state of the art image management system.
