Originally developed by Fujifilm for the FUJIFILM XQ1, the 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor inherits the same architecture and features of the high performance sensor found in the acclaimed FUJIFILM X-Pro1 flagship model. Adoption of BSI (backside illumination) technology enables the successful incorporation of phase detection pixels into the array without affecting sensitivity performance- the key to FUJIFILM XQ1's high-speed AF.

Advanced technology and processing help transfer the power of the lens into true to life photos.

X-Trans CMOS II adopts an original colour filter array with a highly random pattern, eliminating the need for an optical low-pass filter (OLPF), which is used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. This lets the sensor directly capture the high resolution performance of the FUJIFILM XQ1 lens. Also exploiting the enhanced performance of the EXR Processor II, Lens Modulation Optimiser (LMO) factors are calculated to compensate for aberrations and diffraction blur that occur when light passes through the lens and then are applied to produce images with amazing sharpness.

EXR Processor II

Camera that quickly responds to your inspiration in shooting

The high-performance image processing engine "EXR Processor II" has sped up the shooting response time. With a start-up time of 0.99 seconds, shooting interval of 0.3 seconds*** and shutter time lag of 0.015 seconds, response performance competitive to that of DSLR cameras supports smooth photography.

A continuous shooting speed of up to 12.0 fps max. (continuous shooting of approx. 9 frames*4 ) with a full 12 million pixels resolution has been achieved. While in low-speed continuous shooting mode, AF continuous shooting is now possible at max. 4.7 fps, continuously and accurately focusing on moving subjects.

Fujinon lens with bright f/1.8 aperture produces stunning pictures in low light

The bright f/1.8 lens lets you capture quality pictures not normally possible with a compact camera. Noise is kept to a minimum without boosting sensitivity, while camera shake and subject motion are prevented due to high shutter speeds. And thanks to the large aperture, you can also create attractive "bokeh" blurred background effects.

FUJINON 4x (25-100mm) optical zoom with additional 4x Intelligent Digital Zoom

Intelligent Digital Zoom extends the XQ1's 4x optical zoom to the equivalent of a 16x zoom. It uses advanced image processing to capture the moment with amazingly sharp resolution, minimal noise and no loss of tonality

Compact size, superb quality

Featuring state-of-the-art technologies including aspherical elements and high refractive index glass, the FUJIFILM XQ1's lens boasts a fast F1.8 maximum aperture and a slim profile that would be virtually impossible with conventional lens designs. Another important feature is Optical Image Stabilisation, which shifts one group of four elements to minimise camera shake without compromising resolution around the edges of the image, a common problem with conventional stabilization systems.

With its built-in 3.0-stop* optical (lens shift type) image stabilisation function the FUJIFILM XQ1 will help reduce blurring that occurs when shooting moving objects giving you a clear image without blurring in all kinds of scenes.

High-Transmittance EBC

High Transmittance EBC (Electron Beam Coating) is FUJINON's unique wide-band technology developed for FUJINON broadcast-use lenses. The FUJIFILM XQ1 is the first compact camera to use the High Transmittance EBC for double sides of all glass lenses. Because highly refractive glass bends light rays more sharply than conventional optical glass, it creates greater potential for reflections which can cause ghosting and flare. HT-EBC technology effectively minimises this stray light, assuring sharp, clear images under even the most demanding conditions.

Six-blade aperture diaphragm and 3cm macro

With a maximum aperture of f/1.8 at the wide angle setting and a six-blade aperture diaphragm, the FUJIFILM XQ1's lens delivers beautiful defocused blur. Together with macro capabilities to within just 3cm of your subject, that means huge photographic potential in a highly compact body.

High performance Super Intelligent Flash

Fujifilm's Super Intelligent Flash automatically adjusts the amount of additional lighting needed dependent on the scene. Natural images are produced even in close-up macro photography, with no blown out highlights.

Configurable control ring that lets you operate in both auto and manual modes.

The control ring around the lens mount can be customised to one of thirteen settings in advance, making the XQ1 it feel more like analogue camera. Functions can be set with the E-Fn button on the back. If it is set to "STD", it will automatically choose the setting recommended for whichever shooting mode you are in.

Each of the shooting modes selectable by the Mode Dial on the top of the camera have their own "Default" operation for the control ring.

"M" mode - Manual mode

Use the control ring to adjust the aperture and the scroll wheel on the back of the camera to adjust the shutter speed for full manual control.

"S" mode - Shutter speed

Use the control ring to adjust the shutter speed (between 30 seconds and 1/4000 seconds) of the exposure and the camera will automatically adjust the aperture size to suit.

"A" mode - Aperture size

Use the control ring to adjust the aperture size and the camera will automatically adjust the shutter speed to suit.

"SP" mode - Scene position

Use the control ring to quickly select between Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Beach and other shooting modes for various scenes.

Advanced mode

Advanced mode settings such as Panorama, Pro low-light mode and Multiple exposure can be selected.

Advanced filter

Filter effects such as Toy camera, Miniature, High key and Pop colour can be chosen.

"SR+" mode - Advanced SR AUTO

The control ring can be used to manually adjust the zoom.

Exposure Compensation

Exposure can be adjusted in 1/3EV steps in the range from -3.0EV to +3.0EV.

Manual focus

Use the control ring for manual focusing to enjoy analog-style operations.


ISO100 to ISO12800 is available, supporting optimum ISO for the amount of light.

Film simulation

PROVIA, Velvia, ASTIA, SEPIA and other colour reproduction styles unique to popular Fujifilms can be selected.

White balance

Preset modes, such as sunny and shade, or colour temperature can be selected for white balance.

Continuous shooting

Switchable between Super high speed, High speed, Medium speed and Low speed. It is useful when shooting moving subjects.


The focal distance can be changed in the range of a 4x optical zoom to a max. of 16x with intelligent digital zoom.



Flexible, one-handed operation

The FUJIFILM XQ1 is the lightest X series camera, and one you want to carry around with you at all times. It is uniquely designed to enable smooth shooting with only one hand. All dials and buttons are placed on one side. In addition, attention has been given to the grip location and size, as well as the angle of the shutter button, for high quality images with one-handed shooting.

Noise Reduction Control

Choose from 5 different levels of noise reduction depending on whether your priority is the crispness of resolution or keeping noise reduction to a minimum, and explore the capability to tune sensitivity-related textural quality when shooting high-sensitivity scenes.


Focusing Mode Selection

Go to the Shooting Menu to choose the right Focusing Mode for the scene (Manual, Auto Area, Area Selection AF, Continuous AF, Auto Tracking AF).

Within the 49-point matrix of the auto focus area on the screen, AF accurately and swiftly recognizes the primary subject and brings it into crystal clear focus. It also lets you freely select the position of the AF frame. Using the LCD monitor, you also can change the AF frame size and pinpoint the focusing.

When manually adjusting focus, this function highlights high contrast areas of your subject for smoother and more precise fine tuning of focusing.

Empowering you with a choice of 4 different auto bracketing functions (AE, ISO Sensitivity, Dynamic Range and Film Simulation), the FUJIFILM XQ1 lets you experience the wide world of photographic expression.

Dynamic Range Bracketing

Capture 3 exposures of the same scene with high-speed continuous shooting, each at a different dynamic range setting (100%, 200% & 400%).

AE Bracketing

One press of the shutter captures 3 shots of the same scene at different exposures. AE bracketing can be set in 1/3, 2/3 or 1 EV steps.

ISO Sensitivity Bracketing

Based on a single exposure, the scene is automatically reproduced as 3 images, each with a different ISO sensitivity and without changing the shutter speed and aperture, letting you capture the moment with varying degrees of brightness. Setting is possible in 1/3, 2/3 or 1 EV steps.

ISO100 - 12800 Sensitivity setting range

Select from the broad sensitivity range of ISO100 - 12800 for shooting at a full 12-megapixel resolution. The FUJIFILM XQ1 also lets you set the AUTO ISO range (up to ISO 400 - 3200) and the shutter speed limit. For quick access to ISO settings, you can assign this function to the control ring.

White Balance Setting

Compensate for the colour of different light sources with a choice of 9 white balance presets in addition to Auto White Balance.

Precise White Balance Setting

Fine tune white balance by adjusting R (red) ⇔ Cy (cyan) and B (blue) ⇔ Ye (yellow) in ±9 steps. You can make adjustments and confirm their effect on the actual image during shooting. With this powerful setting, you can adjust individual white balance parameters, tweak settings for the more accurate correction of white balance or explore the creative effects that can be achieved with filters.

RAW Shooting

In-camera RAW Converter

The FUJIFILM XQ1's built-in RAW data converter lets you view and edit your results without the need for your PC. The conversion of RAW data not only takes into account exposure compensation, white balance and other in-camera image quality control settings, but also lets the user apply Film Simulation modes in the converter mode.

Self Timer (2 or 10 seconds)

Use the menu to select the Self Timer function. It is not only great for group photos, but also comes in handy in macro photography and low exposure shots when you want to avoid blur caused by manual shutter release.
